MISSION CONFERENCE THEMES
Below is a small
list of ideas for your Missionary Conference. Having a theme will help all ages
of your congregation to draw their attention and set their focus on missions.
You will want to have your theme on a banner and/or your theme verse displayed.
Decorating the auditorium is up to your budget and time. Flags are always great
and can be used year after year. Another interesting idea is to have the Sunday
School classes choose a nation or a missionary family that your congregation
supports and decorate the room accordingly. This is always fun and gets
everyone involved.

IDEAS THAT CAN GROW
Here
you will find ideas that you can build upon, depending on your creativity,
finances available and time.
FLAG PARADES:
Flag parades are great. Children marching in carrying a flag representing a
country and missionary that your congregation supports, while an adult can
announce the country and/or give statistics. Fun marching music adds to the
festivities of this activity. This can be done the first service of the
Conference or whenever you choose. They soon realize there is a big world out
there, so teach those little ones how to give and in so doing, touch places
around the globe.
MISSIONARY ON FURLOUGH:
If you have a missionary with you that is home on furlough it is a great time to
honor him with special recognition as well as their family. Individual gifts,
gift baskets, or certificates for a store or a gasoline card are great ways to
do this. Remember his family is serving alongside him and has surrendered and
sacrificed too!
INTERACTION WITH MISSIONARIES:
Interaction with your church families and the missionary family is essential.
This can be accomplished by hosting a missionary family in the home for the
conference or for a meal or after service fellowship time. Be friendly and take
the time to ask questions about their family, their call, their burden and field
of service.
They
are people just like you --- they won’t bite!
INTERNATIONAL OR ALL NATIONS DINNERS:
These dinners are always fun, although they do not work for all congregations—so
know your people! Need recipes? There are a lot of sites with what you need or
better yet, contact missionaries for their special recipe or you can always do
it the old fashioned way and go to the library!

- The meal can be centered around
certain countries with the food from those countries along with decorations
on the tables.
2. Everyone can bring
food representing the country of their choice.
3. Another great idea is
to have families choose a missionary that the church supports and to decorate
‘their’ assigned area where they will serve their food. Recipes can be gathered
directly from that missionary. Picture of the missionary family, flag, or
colors representing the country and decorate according to that country or the
ministry.
4. Families can be
responsible for decorating a table, each representing a different
country. You can take a map of that country, picture of missionary family or
flag and enlarge them, then laminate and use as place mats.
Some
churches have 10 missionary families in for their conference while others can
only have one or two, but no matter, do it God’s way, with His leadership and
blessing and have a great time planning and preparing. You can never put a
price on souls! |
